Out of the night...

been lazy for eons now. too rotten to write. blame it on the winter blues. but spring is on the horizon. the fields will be green and full of blooms soon...

The late Sir Alan Arthur Bates, CBE reciting one of my favorite poems-- William Ernest Henley's Invictus in this old UBS commercial reignited my appreciation of the beauty of poetry.

Rebecca

Tears could not wash the pain inside of me

I stand in silence

While you lay in your bed

So pale

So weak

So battered

So fragile

Hope springs eternal they say

But you’ve given up the fight

a long time ago

I know

You’ve accepted your fate with

Dignity

I thought I died more than once

While standing alone inside that

Cold cold quiet room

As you close your eyes

And took your last breath

Goodbye, dear friend.

Autumn

It’s the best time of the year, they say.
Far different from the tropics where I used to play
And it is just a matter of time before I will finally
Realize the beauty that will unfold before my eyes.

They say that it is the time of year that I will remember forever
Where the birds will fly carefree in the azure sky
And warm my heart with their haunting lullabies.

They say that summer is good but fall is better
The weather’s fine and the colors are amazing
And my life will be a-ok and I will be happy

Deep in my mind,
I almost believed them
Had it not been for one lingering question-

Why does my heart feel blue
In Autumn
When the leaves are turning bright red, orange and yellow?

Historical Amnesia

You look in the attic
For the things that were lost and forgotten
Mementos of the past
Swept in the dustbin of history

Toy soldiers falling one by one
Memories exploding apart
Bodies mired in the sand

A child’s play for one
Terror and suffering
plague the whole mankind

Lest we forget,
The lessons of the past
And be eternally damned.

Architectural Plays

Schematic diagrams of damned souls

In uncharted sea of passion

Blue prints of seduction

Lost in the blue horizon

Silly thoughts, crazy ideas

Simple notions, moronic solutions

To the simple questions.

Building relationships

From the dust of creation

Is a simple excuse to damnation?

Bodies carved in stone

Saturated in oil of secretions

Making plans for the big summation

Graphic emotions, linear equation

Caught in a web of painless expression

Exploding in the power of spontaneous combustion.

Maningning

I have only known you by name
A girl in the papers
Who dared the gods one day?

My heart bleeds
as silent tears fell.
When you took your flight
and ended your dreams.

The bell tolls,
offering a silent prayer
-for a fallen Angel.

'muted silence'

i know
that the
sun
no longer
shines on
you

you
who
now have
darkness
for sanctuary

i know that
a long
time ago
you
tried your
best
to hold
on to

but
fate
would not
let you

now
i know
why your
heart
no longer
beats

it is
long
dead

-buried
in the tombs
of the
unheard.
